I broke and rode this 1991 broodmare (SQH Snazzy Lady 3039296) as a three year old. She was tractable, calm, and easy to work with. I liked the mare, and had bought her not to raise colts, but to ride. At four years, she badly wire cut her right front foot and favored it even after I spent time and money trying to make her whole. Eventually, she got sound, but before then I had begun breeding her. She has produced three excellent colts for me. I did not succeed in getting her bred the first couple of years; the third year she was bred, but got into Reed Canary Grass which helped her to abort. She had foals the next two years, pasture bred to my stud. I ride one today, and sold another as a barrell prospect. Her third, a filly, is described above. The mare aborted her fourth foal when she contracted West Nile Virus, mainly due to significant loss in weight and condition that lasted for about one year. I doctored her back to health, and she is completely healthy and in excellent condition today. Her fifth colt will be born sometime in January. The mare breeds any month of the year. She is heavy boned, medium musceled, good hip, good withers, good shoulder, pretty head. Her foals out of my stallion have all been lookers. |
